Sunderland, nicknamed the "Black Cats," defeated Oxford United 1-0 in the fourth round of the 2025/26 FA Cup, thanks to a penalty from Habib Diarra, thus advancing to the round of 16. In the 30th minute, Dennis Chirkin was tripped by Oxford United defender Marcosso while dribbling forward, and the referee awarded Sunderland a penalty. Habib Diarra then converted the penalty, giving Sunderland a 1-0 lead.

The players had great understanding and clearly understood the importance of this tournament.”

In addition, Lebrides said, "This was an important game for us and the fans, which made the game more difficult, but the team showed positive energy."
