The Dunton Group has officially acquired the Trail Blazers, with the deal valuing the company at approximately $4.25 billion.

On March 31 local time, the Portland Trail Blazers officially changed hands. With the unanimous approval of the NBA Board of Governors, the Rip City Rising investment group, led by Tom Dunden, has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in the Blazers and its affiliated entities.
The official announcement indicates that the acquired assets include the Portland Trail Blazers themselves, their affiliate team Rip City Remix, and the related entities responsible for operating the Moda Center and the Rose District. According to TA reporter Jason Quick, the total valuation of the deal is approximately $4.25 billion : the first phase, acquiring 80.1% of the shares at a valuation of $4 billion, was completed on March 31; the remaining 19.9% will be acquired at a valuation of $4.5 billion, with completion no later than September 1, 2028.
Regarding the management structure, the Trail Blazers confirmed that Dunton will serve on the board of directors, while Mark Zal, Stan Middleman, Cheng Zhengchang, and Hill Thiel will serve as alternate directors. The Trail Blazers ownership group consists of the aforementioned five families, and also includes several individual investors such as Richard Chafitz, Mark Grandison, Jennifer Gates, Tavit Hinrichus, and Dan Zilberman.
Following the acquisition, Dunton stated, "Today, the Portland Trail Blazers turn a new page. We will continue to move forward with this team with a glorious history as our foundation."
He then added, "On behalf of the ownership group, I promise the fans that we will spare no effort in building the team and ensuring that the Trail Blazers are top-notch every season."
