Napoli announced on its official website on Sunday that the club has extended the contract of its Italy international goalkeeper Alex Meret.
According to Napoli's official statement, Meret has signed on a new a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.
About Alex Meret
Meret, 28, was born in Udine, Italy on March 22, 1997. He is 1.90 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.
Meret joined the youth academy of non-league club Donatello at the age of 10, joined Udinese's youth academy in 2012, and completed his Udinese first-team debut in a Coppa Italia match against Atalanta in December 2015.
In July of the following year, Meret was loaned-out to SPAL for two years.
During his loan spell at SPAL, Meret won the Serie B once with the club.
In July 2018, Meret joined Napoli for €35 million.
Since becoming a member of I Partenopei, Meret has played 212 times for Napoli in all competitions, conceding 236 goals, keeping 73 clean sheets, and has won the Serie A twice and the Coppa Italia once with the club.
