Premier League giants Arsenal are in Singapore to participate in a pre-season friendly match, where they will play against AC Milan and Newcastle. When talking about the club's recent new signings, Arteta said that he is very excited about the performance of these players and looks forward to seeing the team's lineup become more complete.
Arsenal had earlier signed Kepa, Nergios Nergios, Martin Zubairmendi and Maduc. However, Maduc had just participated in the Club World Cup, so he did not join Arsenal on the Asian tour.
Talking about the deal to bring in Martin Zubermendi, Arsenal manager Arteta said, "He had many opportunities to decide whether he wanted to come here, but the good news is that this is a great club and all the players want to come here. He gave up other good opportunities and finally chose us."
“We’ve been really impressed with his performance over the last few days and it’s only by being around the players every day that you really see his character, his personality, his intelligence and what he can bring to the team and I’m really excited about that.”
In addition, the 23-year-old Maduek joined Arsenal from Chelsea earlier and signed a long-term contract. Arteta said that signing several players from Chelsea in the transfer window in the past few years was just a coincidence.
Arteta said: "Maybe it's because they have a lot of very good players and a big squad. But we only focus on the players we want to bring in, not the clubs they originally played for, so it's just a coincidence. But the quality of Chelsea's squad is definitely not a coincidence. I want to congratulate them on winning the Club World Cup, which is a great achievement."
"I'm very excited about Madueke and you can see the reaction from the players, especially those who are familiar with him. He needs a break but will join us soon and he will show what he can bring to the team."
When talking about the situation of other players, Arteta said, "We haven't seen other players in the past 4 to 6 weeks. They look more mature after returning to the team, and the same is true for Gabriel. He has just signed a new contract and has shown his loyalty to the club. He is also continuing to grow. I am very happy about this."
"He looks good and Saliba looks good too. We were missing a number of key players at the end of last season but now they are all moving in a positive direction, fit and able to contribute."
