France Football have officially announced the 30-man shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d'Or on Wednesday through L'Equipe.

Paris Saint-Germain alone boasts nine nominees, setting a record for having the most players nominated from a single club.

These players include Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Désiré Doué, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is embroiled in a transfer saga.

In the Premier League, defending champions Liverpool are also impressive, with four players nominated.

They are Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, and new signing Florian Wirtz.

As for the players missing out, Bradley Barcola, Jamal Musiala, Maghnes Akliouche, Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konaté, Mikel Merino, and Bukayo Saka, all of whom performed exceptionally well last season, were not included in the list.

Notably, this year marks the first time that no past winners have been shortlisted. Rodri's season-ending injury was not a surprise.

In other awards, ten players, including Alisson, Donnarumma, David Raya, Jan Oblak, Emiliano Martínez, Thibaut Courtois, Matz Sels, and Lucas Chevalier, will compete for the Yashin Trophy, the highest honour for goalkeepers.

Doué, João Neves, Dean Huijsen, Pau Cubarsí, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Lamine Yamal, and Estêvão Willian are all shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy, which recognizes the best wonderkids.

As for managers, Arne Slot, Luis Enrique, Enzo Maresca, Hans-Dieter Flick, and Antonio Conte are nominated for the Best Coach award.

It remains unknown whether France Football will create a special award in memory of legendary Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away in a car accident last month.

The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony will be held in France on September 22nd. It will be interesting to see who will be the winner of this most anticipated annual football awards ceremony.
