Premier League club Nottingham Forest officially confirmed that Irish center back Andrew Omobamidel has officially transferred to French Ligue 1 Strasbourg and signed a long-term contract until 2029.
The transfer was completed by the French Ligue 1 club after Omobamidele completed a half-season loan at Strasbourg. The 22-year-old Omobamidele joined Nottingham Forest from Norwich City in September 2023 for a transfer fee of approximately £11 million and signed a contract with the team until 2028.
During his time at Nottingham Forest, Omobamidel made 15 appearances and scored his first goal for the club in the FA Cup third round replay against Blackpool in January 2024. Nottingham Forest won the match 3-2 in extra time.
Subsequently, Omobamidel made his Premier League debut on January 20, 2024, against Brentford, with Nottingham Forest losing 2-3.
In January 2025, Omobamidele was loaned to Strasbourg. He played 11 games in the second half of the Ligue 1 season, showing excellent physical confrontation and defensive judgment, and won the recognition of the coach and club executives.
Finally, Strasbourg officially signed Omobamidele on June 24, injecting more stability and potential into the team's defense.
Nottingham Forest said in an official statement: "The club would like to thank Andrew for his contribution during his time with the club and wish him all the best in his future career."
This transfer not only brings a new development platform for Omobamidele, but also indicates that he will continue to accumulate experience in the top five European leagues and challenge higher stages.
