Davis suffered an eye injury during a game this year when teammate Daniel Gafford unintentionally elbowed him in the face, injuring his right eye and leaving a gash above it. He returned to the game after stitches, but ultimately underwent retinal repair surgery during the offseason.

Davis' right eye was still noticeably red when he spoke with reporters. He explained that this was due to the continued use of eye drops after surgery, and emphasized that his vision was clear and training camp would not be affected. The only difference was that he would have to wear goggles during future games.
