Athletic Bilbao has officially announced that it has signed free agent Roberto Navarro on a five-year contract that will last until June 30, 2030.  

The striker played for clubs such as Osasuna, Barcelona, Monaco and Real Sociedad during the youth training stage, and joined the Real Sociedad reserve team at the age of 17. In addition, he has also been selected for the Spanish national team at all levels from U16 to U21.  

Robert Navarro has played a total of 89 top league games in the past three seasons, and has also accumulated rich experience in the Europa League, scoring two goals in the Europa League. Robert Navarro's last club was Real Mallorca, where he played 25 times last season, mainly as an attacking midfielder or winger.

Athletic Bilbao football director Mikel Gonzalez said that Roberto Navarro's joining has brought the club an excellent development opportunity. Although he is still young, he has accumulated a wealth of game experience. He said: "He has superb skills and is very flexible with both feet. He has excellent ball control and can play on both sides, but he plays more in the middle."  

Although his parents are from Pamplona, Roberto Navarro was born in Barcelona when his father, Roberto, played for Los Pitaletes. Roberto played for Osasuna and moved to Sant Andreu, another team in Catalonia.  

After Roberto retired, his family moved back to Pamplona. Young Roberto Navarro made his mark at Irabia Futsal Club and joined Osasuna's under-12 youth training team in 2011.  

Roberto Navarro's early performances earned him a move to Barcelona. However, he eventually left the club to join Monaco. Under the guidance of Thierry Henry, he became the youngest starter in the club's history at the age of 16.  

Later, Robert Navarro moved to Real Sociedad and became a member of the reserve team Sansé. Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, the team was successfully promoted to the B League. In his second season with Real Sociedad, Robert Navarro made his debut for the first team.  

In the 2022-23 season, Roberto Navarro got more first-team appearances under the guidance of Imanol Alguacil, making 26 appearances in total. The attacking midfielder was then loaned to Cadiz, making 30 appearances. After the season ended, he signed a one-year contract with Real Mallorca.  

When the pre-season training camp opens, Roberto Navarro will officially debut as a member of Athletic Bilbao.
