Girona Football Club recently announced the signing of Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel. Club President Delph Glee and Sporting Director Enrique Cassell attended the signing ceremony. Enrique Cassell emphasized that Witsel not only possesses extensive experience on the field, but will also have a significant impact in the dressing room.  

Club Chairman Delph Glee said: “I would like to thank Axel Witsel for his trust in us and for joining our family to grow together and help the club gain more experience. We look forward to leveraging your illustrious career and rich football background to drive the club to new heights.”  

Henrique Cassell also highlighted the unique qualities of the Belgium international, stating: "Axel Witsel has a wealth of experience, his ability to control the ball and pass into the box is particularly outstanding, and his game is very strong."  

Axel Witsel explained the reasons behind choosing Montilivi as his new club: "After speaking with Michel and Enrique Cassell, we quickly established a good relationship and decided that Girona was the ideal place for me. Things progressed quickly and I knew this was the best option for me and my family."  

Regarding his position in the team, the Belgian player admitted that although he has versatile abilities, he is best suited to play in midfield. He said: "The coach wants me to play in midfield because that is my best role, although I can also play as a defender."  

Axel Witsel arrived in good physical condition and is confident he will find his match rhythm again in the coming weeks. "My physical condition is very good," he said. "I've only had to train a few times with the team, and I feel I'm improving every day. As an experienced player, I want to help the younger players develop. In the first few days of training, I've seen my teammates perform very well."  

"Michel and I share a lot of similar playing philosophies, such as ball possession and high-intensity pressing. Therefore, I believe I can quickly integrate into the team. Ultimately, I will make the most of every training opportunity with the goal of helping the team perform well in every game."
