St. Pauli announced on its official website on Thursday that Burnley youngster Andréas Hountondji has joined the club on-loan.
According to St. Pauli's official statement, Hountondji will play for the club on-loan until the end of the new season, and the loan agreement does not contain a buyout clause.
After completing his joining procedures, Hountondji, who was interviewed by St. Pauli's official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy to join St. Pauli now and have the opportunity to compete in the Bundesliga. The conversation with the sporting director and the coach was very exciting. This club has a unique atmosphere, and I hope to do my part to ensure our success this season."
About Andréas Hountondji
Hountondji, who is only 22 years old, was born in Montry, France on July 11, 2002. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward. He can also play as a left winger or a right winger. He has dual nationality of France and Benin.
Hountondji played for the youth academies of non-league clubs Montry, Meaux and Torcy when he was young. In 2019, he joined Caen's youth academies and completed his Caen first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April 2021.
From June of the following year to June 2023, Hountondji was loaned-out to Quevilly Rouen and Orleans.
In July 2023, Hountondji was loaned-out to Rodez.
During his loan-spell with Les Sangs et Or, Hountondji reached the semi-finals of the Ligue 2 promotion play-offs and the Coupe de France 32 Round of 32s.
In July last year, Hountondji joined Burnley for £3.4 million punds.
Since becoming a member of the Clarets, Hountondji has not had many opportunities to play for the newly-promoted Premier League club.
In January this year, Hountondji was loaned-out to Standard Liège.
Last season, Hountondji played 18 times for the Jupiler Pro League powerhouse in all competitions, scored 4 goals, provided 2 assists, and helped the club reach the round of 16s of the Belgian Cup.
