Premier League club Leeds United have officially announced the successful signing of 21-year-old Argentine attacker Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton until the end of the season.
This versatile forward was loaned to Chelsea for the first half of the season, but was recalled by his parent club early due to limited playing time (only 7 appearances, including 3 Champions League matches). In order to gain consistent playing time and earn a place in the national team, Bunanot chose to wear the Leeds United jersey for the second half of the season.
In his first exclusive interview after arriving at Elland Road, Buñnot excitedly said: "I'm so happy to be here. I really only wanted to come to Leeds United, more than anywhere else."
"I want to show the fans my ability by making runs down the flanks and into the opponent's defense, scoring goals and providing assists, and helping the team stay in the Premier League," Buñnot admitted. He added that if he performs well for Leeds United, he will have the opportunity to represent Argentina at the World Cup.
Brighton & Wanderers, Bunanot's former club, have expressed their full support for the transfer. Sporting director Jason Ayto pointed out that Bunanot's loan spell at Leicester City last season, where he made 35 appearances, contributing 6 goals and 3 assists, has proven his ability to thrive in the Premier League.
“Facundo is eager to play, and this is a great transfer for all parties,” Ayto said, adding that he looks forward to Bunanot’s continued growth at Leeds United.
As the 11th youngest player in Argentine history to make his national team debut, Buñnot already has 72 Premier League appearances. He has made it clear that he is ready: "I can't wait to make my debut at Elland Road, and hopefully we can win this Saturday."
