Casey McAteer has officially joined Ipswich Town from Leicester City, signing a four-year contract until the summer of 2029. The 23-year-old, who can play in a variety of attacking positions, played for Leicester City in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2023-24 season and has six appearances for the Republic of Ireland, has expressed his excitement at the prospect of joining Ipswich Town.  

After joining, Casey McAteer said: "I am very excited to be here and I can't wait to get involved in the new journey. Ipswich is building a very attractive project, both the players and staff are working hard for it."  

"I hope to contribute here. I've played here as a guest and know how passionate the fans are. When I heard about Ipswich's interest, I had no hesitation in joining."  

“There are quite a few players from Ireland in the team, and some are teammates I know from my previous clubs. I am very happy to be able to join such a group because I already know them to a certain extent and they will give me good advice, so I believe this is a very suitable place.”  

“It will help me integrate into the new team more quickly. I know a few players from Ireland from the national team and they have been great teammates, so I’m happy to be able to continue building connections here.”  

Casey McAteer also talked about the new Ipswich captain Darragh, saying: "He is an excellent man. When I first participated in the away training camp with Ireland, he warmly welcomed me to join. I respect him very much. He deserves it and is the best person to be the captain."  

Casey McAteer said he can't wait to show his strength in front of the fans. When talking about the goals for the new season in the Championship, he said: "Our goal is to fight for promotion again, which is why I joined. I will do my best to do my best. If I can help the team achieve this result, it means we are on the right direction."
