In the eighth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, Inter Milan defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 away. After this match, they have 15 points in the league, ranking tenth and joining Dortmund in the play-offs.

Early in the first half, Dortmund nearly broke through the opponent's goal: in the 11th minute, Julian Yersin delivered a through ball from the edge of the penalty area, and Serhu Guirassy's close-range shot was saved by Jan Sommer. Inter Milan responded with a quick counter-attack three minutes later, but Federico Dimarco's final shot was successfully thwarted by Gregor Kerber.

Both sides then exchanged attacks, but few shots on goal were created. In the 16th minute, Jan Bisek cut inside from the left and his shot was blocked by Emre Can, and his follow-up shot went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Luis Enrique broke through on the right and delivered a cross, but Ange-Yoan Bony's header in the penalty area was also saved by Kerber.

In the 63rd minute, Petar Sucic's diagonal pass into the box created a golden opportunity for Francesco Pio Esposito, who, unmarked, was about to shoot when Rami Bensebaini made a timely block. In the 78th minute, Marcus Thuram crossed from the right side of the box, but Pio's close-range shot was saved by Yersin. In the 80th minute, Inter Milan earned a free kick on the right side of the penalty arc. Federico Dimarco converted the free kick to give Inter the lead. In the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time, Andy Diouf scored a solo goal to seal the victory and help Inter advance to the knockout stage playoffs.
