Manchester City officially announced on Friday that they have completed a contract extension with Portuguese center-back Ruben Dias. The new contract extends the contract by two years, from its original expiration date of 2027, to June 30, 2029.

The 28-year-old Ruben Dias came through Benfica's youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on September 16, 2017. He subsequently made 137 appearances for Benfica, contributing 12 goals and 6 assists, winning both the Primeira Liga title and the Portuguese Super Cup.

In September 2020, Dias joined Manchester City from Benfica for €71.6 million. He has since established himself as a top central defender at Manchester United, making 223 appearances, scoring four goals and providing five assists. He has also won one Champions League, one Club World Cup, four Premier League titles, one UEFA Super Cup, one FA Cup, one League Cup, and one Community Shield.
