The Brooklyn Nets have officially announced the waiver of guard Cameron Thomas, who averaged 15.6 points per game this season.

After the 2026 NBA trade deadline, the Brooklyn Nets officially waived Cameron Thomas. In a brief farewell statement, they wrote, "Thank you, Cam."

The 24-year-old Isiah Thomas is a 6'6" (1.91m) and 95kg (4.5kg) guard who was selected 27th overall in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets. To date, he has played 239 regular season games for the Nets, averaging 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 23.3 minutes per game, with a 43.5% field goal percentage and a 34.3% three-point percentage.

Multiple indications suggest that Thomas's waiver was not due to a single factor. Last September, he opted to accept a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer, the attached no-trade clause of which severely limited the Nets' options before the trade deadline. Coupled with defensive issues and injury concerns, Thomas's trade value was actually relatively limited.

Thomas's attendance and performance this season objectively reflect the league's cautious approach during its initial evaluation. Hampered by a left hamstring injury, he has only played 24 games since the start of the season, averaging 15.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. The Nets' record has also remained stagnant, currently sitting second-to-last in the Eastern Conference with a 13-37 record.
