Everton manager David Moyes suggests that James Garner's recent impressive performances could earn him his first call-up to the England national team. Garner has excelled in both midfield and right-back positions this season. He started at right-back last week against Fulham and helped the team secure a 2-0 victory. So far, Garner and centre-back James Tarkowski are the only two Everton players to have played every game this season.  

The 24-year-old has played for Everton for four seasons but has yet to make an appearance for the England senior team. He progressed from the youth teams all the way to the U21 team, and under Lee Carsley, he played a crucial role in helping England U21 win the 2023 European Championship.  

David Moyes revealed that James Garner recently spoke about his national team dreams. Despite fierce competition for midfield positions, his recent good form will provide a strong boost to his chances of playing for the national team and may also attract the attention of Thomas Tuchel.  

The manager said: "James Garner has been performing exceptionally well since I took over. I may not have fully realized his potential at first, but he is truly outstanding. He has not only performed brilliantly in midfield but has also played as a full-back for me. I have mentioned several times recently that, based on his performances, he is very likely to be called up to the England national team."  

"By the way, England has a lot of great players, so choosing a squad is a tough task for anyone. I've been hearing a lot of talk about Foden and Bellingham this week, but I just want to emphasize that Jimmy is the best of this group of young England midfielders and he has the potential to be selected for the national team in the future. Jimmy has been performing very well for our team and is in great form right now."  

Jack Grealish is another player vying for a place in the England national team, having yet to make an appearance for the country since October 2024. David Moyes has also praised the loaned winger, whose performances in matches have once again been impressive. Grealish is the only player in the Premier League this season to contribute four assists and create over 20 scoring opportunities.  

David Moyes said: "Jack Grealish has been outstanding. He has helped us control the ball better and increased the team's possession rate. His assists have also been crucial. I keep reminding him that while assists are important, goals are even more critical, so I'm trying to help him score as many goals as possible."  

“His style of play injects real energy into the team. He and Iliman Ndiae have both performed exceptionally well, greatly contributing to the team and changing the way we play to some extent. We hope to continue to improve, strive to become a better team, and do our best in every aspect.”  

“These two players have given us a chance to achieve our goal. Jack Grealish is an excellent player; he loves football, watches games attentively, and listens carefully to the coach’s instructions. Although Thomas Tuchel faces a huge challenge in selecting the England squad, Jack Grealish will not disappoint. He has solid ball control and is good at creating attacking opportunities and organizing the team. I think he is very close to being selected for the England squad, but whether he is ultimately selected is not something I can decide.”
