The San Antonio Spurs have officially completed a contract extension with star guard De'Aaron Fox, signing a four-year, $229 million supermax contract.
The 27-year-old Fox was traded from the Sacramento Kings to the San Antonio Spurs in February 2025. The newly signed contract extension will take effect from the 2026-27 season and last until the 2029-30 season.
After joining the San Antonio Spurs, Fox played in 17 games and quickly demonstrated his all-around performance, averaging 19.7 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game, quickly integrating into the team's system. However, he suffered a finger injury in March and bid farewell to the season early.
Since entering the league in 2017, Fox has averaged 21.5 points and 6.1 assists per game for his career. He was selected to his first All-Star team during the 2022-23 season with the Sacramento Kings and was named to the All-NBA Third Team. The following year, he set a career-high 26.6 points per game and won the league's steals title.
Today, the San Antonio Spurs are building a next-generation championship-contending roster. In this draft, they selected promising guard Dylan Harper with the second overall pick, forward Carter Bryant with the 14th overall pick, and added top pick center Victor Wembanyama and Rookie of the Year Stephen Castle.
In addition, the team also has many strong players. Fox's contract extension not only stabilizes the direction of the San Antonio Spurs' team building, but also lays a solid foundation for the team's impact on the playoffs.
