Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl revealed on Monday that the club will soon start contract renewal talks with Harry Kane.

Kane, 32, played for Tottenham Hotspur for 19 years and is widely regarded as a representative of England's middle-aged attackers. Since joining Bayern Munich for 95 million euros in August 2023, he has made 104 appearances for the club, scoring 100 goals and providing 29 assists, winning one Bundesliga title and one German Super Cup with the team.

Kane's contract at Bayern Munich was originally scheduled to expire in 2027 and was rumored to contain a release clause worth £57 million. This clause could be triggered by Kane this summer, and his former club Tottenham Hotspur has the right of first refusal.

Regarding the rumors that Kane may return to Tottenham, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank made it clear: "I think many Tottenham fans, including myself, hope that Kane will return. He is a top player. However, I personally don't think he will choose to return at the moment. He is more likely to stay at Bayern and continue to perform well."

"I don't know what he's thinking. I'm a travel enthusiast and I love exploring the unknown. He's been at Tottenham for many years, so why not enjoy his time at Bayern?"

"In any case, we welcome him back at any time. If he wants to join us, we will definitely welcome him with open arms."

Eberl responded firmly: "Harry is an extraordinary player in our team and a true leader. He has previously clearly expressed his desire to join Bayern. He also mentioned that it would be a great experience to fight side by side with us and win the championship together."

"We hope to work with him for a long time. That's why we will discuss the next steps with him in a relaxed manner."

In addition to Kane, Eberl also discussed the future of France international Dayot Upamecano. He said: "It is not surprising that several clubs are interested in Upamecano. We are also interested in renewing his contract."

"We are working hard to advance the negotiations and explain Bayern's grand plans to him. We absolutely want to keep him and Kane," Eberl concluded.

The 26-year-old Upamecano, who primarily plays as a central defender, moved to Bayern Munich for €42.5 million in July 2021. To date, he has made 159 appearances for Bayern, contributing 5 goals and 10 assists, and has won three Bundesliga titles and three German Super Cups with the team.

Upamecano's current contract runs until June 30, 2026, and several teams, including Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, are closely monitoring his progress. If no extension agreement is reached before January 2026, Upamecano will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club.
