French striker Hugo Ekitike made his Liverpool home debut at Anfield. He showed excellent form with a wonderful assist and expressed high praise for the team, teammates and the atmosphere of the stadium after the game.
The 22-year-old striker, who joined Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt last month, made his Anfield debut in the second pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao. Ekitike provided the assist for Salah's opening goal as Liverpool won 3-2, completing their winning streak.
After the game, Ekitike told Liverpool's official website: "I really enjoyed the game. This is my first time playing at Anfield and the atmosphere was fantastic. I feel very proud to be on this pitch. I hope there will be many more games to play here in the future. It was really amazing."
Despite having joined the team for just over a week, Ekiti Ke has already established a rapport with his teammates. He said: "I'm still finding the coordination with everyone in the final pass and even earlier stages, but I'm really enjoying this process."
"We have a good teamwork on the field and get along well with my teammates off the field. I am very happy to play with them. However, we still have some details to adjust, including myself when holding the ball. I know I can do better. I believe we will grow together and make many wonderful performances in the new season."
Ekiti Ke’s impressive start to the campaign has undoubtedly given Liverpool more attacking options. As pre-season preparations progress, the young striker is expected to become a key player in Liverpool’s attacking midfield this season.
