Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expressed full affirmation and patience when talking about the new signing Estevao William who joined this summer.
The 18-year-old Brazilian winger is praised for his outstanding talent and positional versatility, but Maresca stressed that the club will carefully integrate him into the rhythm and will not rush for success.
Maresca praised Estevan, saying: "He is a very good player, very young, a happy kid who always smiles, which is a typical Brazilian trait. We must keep him happy, not put pressure on him, and give him enough time to adapt."
Esteban confirmed his move to Chelsea from Palmeiras in June 2024, but will not officially sign until he turns 18. Over the past year, he has established himself as a regular starter for Palmeiras, earned his first call-up to the Brazilian national team, and scored against Chelsea in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.
This week, Esteban finally arrived at Chelsea and participated in pre-season training, and is expected to make his Chelsea debut in a friendly match against Leverkusen or AC Milan.
Maresca pointed out that this is the first time Estevão has lived and played outside of Brazil, so he needs special attention: "Compared to other signings, we have to pay more attention to him because he comes from the other side of the world and is so young. He needs to adapt to the new environment. We will try our best to give him playing time and make him happier."
"He's flexible, like Cole Palmer, he can play out wide or through the middle. He can find a role in any of our five attacking positions."
