West Ham United took the lead twice in this round of Premier League matches but ultimately lost 2-3 to Aston Villa. Midfielder Lothar Fernandes said the result was very frustrating.

In a post-match interview, Fernandez said, "We are very disappointed. Once again, failing to score a third goal while leading gave the opponent a chance to get back into the game. We must make changes in the face of this situation."

"Aston Villa is a very strong team, and their third goal was of high quality, but things might not have turned out that way if we had been more decisive when we took the lead. It's always very difficult to go into the second half with a narrow lead."

Fernandez also compared the defeat to last week's match against Brighton, believing the team still had room for improvement in their handling of the final stages of the game. Fernandez said, "Sometimes you feel it, you have to take your chances and score. The Premier League is very fast-paced, and any lapse in concentration will be punished."

Despite his apparent disappointment, Fernandes still saw a positive side. He pointed out that the team created numerous scoring opportunities against top-three league opponents and their overall performance was not negative. Furthermore, Fernandes himself contributed a goal in the match, his second since joining West Ham United.

Regarding the goal, Fernandez said: "It's a great start, a wonderful moment for me, but more importantly, the team can get points."
