Auxerre announced on their official website on Wednesday that Crystal Palace's French defensive midfielder Naouirou Ahamada has joined the club on a free transfer.
According to the Ligue 1 club's official statement, Ahamada has signed on a short-term one-and-a-half-year deal which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for another two years. Ahamada will wear the number 8 jersey.
About Naouirou Ahamada
The 23-year-old Naouirou Ahamada was born on March 29, 2002, in Marseille, France. He is 1.83 meters tall, plays as a defensive midfielder, and holds French, Comorian, and Madagascar citizenship.
As a child, Ahamada played for the youth academies of non-league clubs Saint Gabriel and Bel-Air. He joined Istres' youth academy in 2016, and then Juventus' youth academy in 2018, before started playing for Juventus' U23s team in January 2020.
In October of the same year, Ahamada was loaned-out to Stuttgart.
In July 2021, Stuttgart permanently acquired Ahamada's ownership rights for €1.7 million.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell at Stuttgart, Ahamada helped the club reach the DFB-Pokal Round of 16s once.
On the 2023 winter transfer deadline day window, Ahamada joined Crystal Palace for £9.7 million.
The following August, Ahamada was loaned-out to Rennes but did not get any playing time.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell with the Eagles, Ahamada only made 31 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, without scoring any goals or providing any assists.
