On September 27, Malik Williams' agent Brian Junglis revealed to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto that the Hawks have signed center Williams.
Williams played seven games for the Toronto Raptors in the 2023-24 season , averaging 2.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Despite limited playing time, his performance in the Development League was more stable, showing both offense and defense.
Last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Williams averaged 14.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game, while also hitting 40% of his three-pointers. This season, he's improved his numbers even further, averaging 16.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in 31 games, showing continued improvement.
The 6 -foot - 11 Williams has established himself as a reliable rebounder and rim protector in the Development League. He also has a certain outside shooting ability, which makes him a potential development target in the eyes of many NBA teams.
For the Hawks, the team welcomed first-round pick Asa Newell for the 2025-26 season and acquired Kristaps Porzingis via trade during the offseason. With the addition of Okongwu and Jalen Johnson, the Hawks' frontcourt rotation already boasts depth and diversity. Williams' arrival will further enrich the team's interior options.
