Heat official: Haywood Highsmith successfully underwent right knee surgery and will be out 8 to 10 weeks

The Miami Heat announced in a statement that Haywood Highsmith had successfully undergone right knee surgery. The procedure, performed by Heat team physician Harlan Selesnick at the Miami Doctors Hospital Surgery Center, lasted 35 minutes.
According to official sources, the surgery was to repair a torn meniscus in Highsmith's right knee that he suffered during training in Baltimore. He will begin rehabilitation immediately and is expected to be out for 8 to 10 weeks.
Highsmith, 28, primarily plays the post position. After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, he chose to play in the G League with the Delaware Blue Jackets, the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate. He has played for the Heat since December 2021 and has appeared in 213 regular-season games, averaging 5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.
Highsmith also played 35 playoff games for the Heat, averaging 3.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 51.6% and a three-point shooting percentage of 40.4%.
In the 2024/25 season, Highsmith played 74 games in the regular season, averaging 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, helping the Heat finish eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 37 wins and 45 losses. After entering the playoffs, he played 4 games for the Heat, averaging 7.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
