Inter Milan officially announced on Friday that it has signed 22-year-old French midfielder Andy Diouf from Lens. The two parties signed a five-year contract, which is valid until June 30, 2030.
Officials also confirmed that Diouf will wear the number 17 jersey. His transfer fee is said to be up to 25 million euros, including 5 million euros in floating bonuses.
There are also reports that Diouf's annual salary at Inter Milan is about 2 million euros.
Diouf has trained with several teams including Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes, and made his professional debut for Rennes on May 29, 2021. Due to limited playing opportunities, he chose to join Basel on loan in July 2022.
In July 2023, Basel bought out Diouf's ownership in Rennes for €5.5 million and then traded him to Lens for €14 million. Diouf has made 68 appearances for Lens, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
After completing the transfer, Diouf said: “Inter is a club with a long history. As soon as I heard the news, I didn’t think twice: I never had any hesitation about joining Inter. It is an honor to play for Inter. Being a member of Inter means a lot. I am extremely proud and I can’t wait to set foot on the San Siro.”
"I know there are a lot of experienced players on the team. I hope to learn from them and grow with the team."
“I believe I can use my personal strengths to meet the needs of the team, and I will also take time to adapt to the league, the team and the style of my teammates. Having a coach who has played in the top league is undoubtedly a big advantage for me.”
Finally, Diouf called out to Inter Milan fans: "I am very happy to join Inter Milan and can't wait to show my ability on the court. See you soon!"
