Everton defender Jack O'Brien said the team is actively adjusting its condition and fully preparing for the next game. In the Premier League opener against Leeds United, Everton was awarded a penalty kick due to James Tarkowski's handball in the penalty area, and eventually lost the game.  

After the game, Jack O'Brien said in an interview with Everton TV that although he had objections to the referee's decision, the team still needed to improve its performance.  

Jack O'Brien said: "This penalty is really too severe. He couldn't retract his arm at all. It was a very natural action. He just went to make a block. They looked back for five minutes but still couldn't see the problem. In addition, I think we didn't play well today. Whether we had the ball or not, we were not decisive enough. Next we need to go back to training, see where the problem lies, and then start again."  

David Moyes' team had an outstanding season last season, winning eight Premier League games since the end of February and achieving three consecutive wins in the last three rounds.  

Jack O'Brien continued: "We have a strong squad and a strong core. I think at an away game like Elland Road, we have to get three points. But it's just the start of the season and we didn't get any points today, which is really disappointing."  

"I think our team is strong enough to achieve good results. But against Leeds United, we were not decisive enough and our form was not up to par. We know that too, so we have to go back to training well and come back next week to fix the problem and perform better."  

Everton's next match is against Brighton, marking their first competitive match at their new home ground. Jack O'Brien admitted that the team needs to adjust and perform better in this crucial match. He added: "We'll get back on track this weekend, correct our mistakes, and strive for a good result."  

"In my opinion, what we need to do is focus on the field, let the fans have confidence in us again and believe that we can achieve the desired results. All this must be done at the beginning of the season, rather than dragging it out later."
