Jerson Mosquera admits his return to action after a serious knee injury last season was not easy, but he is grateful to have been given a chance to play for Wolves against Girona on Sunday.
The Colombian defender, who joined Wolves this summer alongside international teammate John Arias, has been out of action since September but has spent the past ten months at Compton Park focusing on his rehabilitation as he prepares for the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
As the season draws to a close, Jerson Mosquera says he will not rush to return for next weekend's game against Manchester City. He stressed that he will prioritize his health and wait patiently for his body to fully recover before returning to the field.
"It's very exciting," Jerson Mosquera said of John Arias joining the Wolves. "I'm happy for him to join us and I'm looking forward to playing alongside him. He's a very good player."
"His arrival will be of great benefit to us, and we will do our best to protect him and integrate him into the team atmosphere. As long as he integrates smoothly, everyone will see his value."
"I'm really happy to be back playing. I'm incredibly excited to be getting ready for this moment. It's tough being away from the game for so long, but we all love this sport. It's a really important moment for me to be able to step onto the court and compete again, and I feel like everything is moving in the right direction."
"I'm in good shape right now, but I still need more training to improve my knee stability and confidence. At the same time, I hope I can be in better shape to face the challenges of the new season."
“Pre-season is a great opportunity to improve my condition. I believe I can gradually recover to my best level through training and achieve better performance in the new season.”
Jelson Mosquera added: "My knee is currently recovering well and I am not in a rush to return because I understand the need to be extremely cautious. This is my first appearance since the injury and I hope to play in the best condition possible and be better prepared for the upcoming matches."
"I still need to wait and remain patient because I don't want to rush things. Today is just the first step, and I will continue to work hard to be fully prepared for every step in the future."
"For me, it was really important to focus on my mental state. That's the key because when your mindset is positive, your physical recovery will be faster. This experience was invaluable to me because I had so much support from the people around me."
"Whether on the training field or in the recovery room, every teammate and staff member has helped me regain my confidence. They have always trusted me and they understand my attitude and hard work towards training. But I always believe that the most important thing is mentality. As long as you are determined enough, all problems will eventually be solved."
