Kent Lacob, son of Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob, has resigned as the team's vice president of basketball development, effective immediately. The news has been reported by multiple outlets, including The Athletic and the San Francisco Chronicle, and confirmed by the Warriors.

Kent Lacob, 32, has been with the Warriors since 2015, serving as basketball operations coordinator and general manager of the Santa Cruz Warriors (the Warriors' G League affiliate). He announced his departure on the eve of the NBA draft, shocking his father.

The company explicitly stated that Kent Lacob's departure was not due to family conflict, but rather a desire for personal independence and to shed the label of "nepotism." Although he loved basketball and the Warriors, having won three NBA championships with them over the past decade, the pressure of working under his father's influence for so long and his pursuit of personal breakthroughs ultimately led to his decision to leave the Warriors.

TA also learned from Kent Lacob himself that he will not join any other NBA team after leaving the Warriors. "This will be a completely unfamiliar experience," Kent Lacob said.
