Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant stated that former teammate Russell Westbrook absolutely deserves to stay in the NBA and expressed his openness to the possibility of reuniting with him in an interview with Kay Adams on FanDuel's "Up & Adams Show" on Thursday.

However, he also admitted that whether the Houston Rockets sign the free agent is beyond his control.

Durant said, "I have absolutely no idea. I haven't asked anyone about [a reunion]. It hasn't even crossed my desk. Usually when something like that happens, there's a lot of noise. But other than the fans online, I haven't heard anything."

"Russell is a legend. I think he should stay in the NBA right now, and I think he should leave the NBA on his own terms, so yes, that would be great. But it's not my decision. I'm leaving that up to the people who make the decision."

Durant's interview is likely related to rumours claiming that Russell Westbrook is set to join a CBA team for a salary "four times higher than his NBA salary."

However, this claim was not reported by any American media outlet, and after listening to the replay of the reporter's program, we also did not hear any mention of this "revelation."

It's worth noting that the Sacramento Kings are rumoured to have offered Westbrook $10 million, while the CBA's foreign player maximum salary cap is $4.25 million.
