Laurent Assignon will join Stuttgart from French Ligue 1 side Rennes before the start of the new season and sign a long-term contract with the club that is valid until 2029.
The defender becomes the first new signing for the Bundesliga team in the 2025-26 season. Under the guidance of Anthony Rouault, Lolaurenz Assignon previously learned about Bundesliga matches on TV and has now started learning German to prepare for integration into the new environment.
Laurent Assinion said in an interview: "I am very happy to be here and I am looking forward to the upcoming challenges. Stuttgart is a club with a deep heritage and many fans."
"I have watched many of their games on TV. Now, I hope to contribute to the team's continued good performance in recent years through my own efforts."
“I am a full-back who is good at tackling in defense but also keen to participate in offense. When I was young, I played as a striker for a long time, so the offensive awareness remains in my playing style to this day.”
"As time goes by, I gradually adapt to the position of full-back and find a sense of belonging in this role. I will also make full use of my physical advantages and do my best to contribute to the team and help the team succeed."
"Stuttgart is a legendary club with a long history and I am looking forward to feeling the exciting atmosphere on the field. Fabian Riedl once told me that the fans here are very enthusiastic and can create an unforgettable atmosphere for the game. At the same time, the Bundesliga itself also deeply attracts me."
