Magic defeat Heat in preseason opener; Banchero leads new signings to shine

On October 5th , the Orlando Magic defeated the Miami Heat 126-118, marking their first preseason victory. Despite 19 turnovers, the team relied on their positive energy and rebounding dominance to secure the victory.
The Magic's starting lineup consisted of Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Tristan da Silva, Paulo Banchero, and Wendell Carter Jr. Jalen Suggs and Mo Wagner were sidelined due to knee injuries, while Franz Wagner was rested for the EuroBasket tournament. The Heat started the game hot, leading by 15 points, but the Magic overcame a strong second-half run.
New signing Bane made his debut, scoring 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in 13 minutes, showcasing his perimeter threat and team spirit. Banchero also had a solid performance, scoring 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 13 minutes , drawing numerous fouls. Carter was also active, finishing with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Off the bench, rookie Jace Richardson exploded in the third quarter, hitting three three-pointers and finishing with 13 points, showcasing his potential as a first-round pick. Jeter Howard contributed 10 points and two steals, also showing positive performance. Second-round pick Noah Penda had six points and two rebounds.
The Magic will continue their preseason tour in Philadelphia before returning home to face the Miami Heat next Sunday. With new players integrating smoothly and young players showing growth, the Magic are steadily moving forward into the new season.
