Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed at the pre-match press conference that the team will be plagued by serious injuries in the Premier League away game against Newcastle United, and several first-team players will miss the game.
In the last round's defeat to Arsenal, Antoine Robinson, Samuel Chukwueze and Rodrigo Muniz were absent due to injury, and now Joachim Anderson and Harry Wilson have been added to the list.
Silva revealed that Anderson's injury is a muscle problem and while not serious, he and Robinson will both miss the match against Newcastle United. Chukwueze and Muniz are still recovering and will not be able to play for the time being.
As for Wilson, he suffered a minor injury while on international duty. Although he was originally selected for the match against Arsenal, his recent form remains subpar. Silva said: "He wasn't in good form yesterday and didn't train today. It's not a serious problem, but we'll have to see how he reacts tomorrow before deciding whether he'll play."
On the other hand, the team also received some good news: midfield cores Tom Cairney and Saša Lukić are close to returning and are expected to join the team.
Silva told reporters: "Cani's injury is not serious. As we expected, he will be in the squad against Newcastle United. Lukic will also have a chance. He has responded very well to his recovery."
Fulham is seeking stable performance in this season's Premier League campaign, and this away battle will be an important battle for them to test their squad depth and tactical resilience.
