Former Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kyle Singler was arrested on Wednesday for alleged domestic violence, the Associated Press reported, citing sheriff sources in Haskell County, Texas.

According to an official statement from the Haskell County Sheriff's Office, sheriffs arrested Singler on Wednesday at a rented Airbnb in Whitefield, a suburb of Oklahoma, on suspicion of domestic violence against his girlfriend. The violence reportedly occurred in front of Singler and his girlfriend's children.

Reporters revealed that sheriffs responded to a neighbour's complaint that they heard a woman screaming for help while being chased by Singler, prompting their arrest.

Under Texas and Oklahoma state laws, the identity and personal information of complainant will not be released.

Deputy Sheriff Mitch Dobbs, who led Singler's arrest, stated that Singler's girlfriend told one of the officers that Singler grabbed her head and pushed her to the ground.

Police officers also discovered a very clear handprint on the victim's neck and face when she filed the report.

Deputy Sheriff Dobbs added that when he personally questioned Singler, the latter was extremely uncooperative and unwilling to honestly disclose whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of his arrest.

Singler was initially detained in the Haskell County Jail after his arrest, but has since been released on $6,000 bail.

Singler faces a misdemeanor charge of assault in front of a child. If convicted, he could serve six months to a year in the county jail. He could also face a $5,000 fine.

Following the report's release, NBA Players Association officials attempted to contact Singler's family, but it is currently unknown whether they or Singler himself were successfully reached.

Singler, 37, was born on May 4, 1988, in Mayford, Oregon, USA. Standing at 2.03 meters tall, he primarily played as a small forward during his playing career, but could also play as a power forward. He is now retired.

Singler entered Duke University in 2007 and won the NCAA Tournament championship with the team in the 2009/10 season.

On June 24, 2011, Singler was selected 33rd overall in the second round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons.

However, due to the NBA Lockout that summer, Singler did not join the Pistons but instead played in overseas leagues.

During the 2011/12 season, Singler played for Alicante and Real Madrid.

In July of the following year, Singler officially signed with the Pistons, beginning his NBA professional career.

During his career, he was selected to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team once.

In February 2015, Singler was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-team trade involving the Detroit Pistons, the New York Knicks, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Thunder, Singler's lackluster performances led to him being waived in August 2018.

He then returned to play in Spain, during which he played for Monbus Obradoiro and Tenerife, before retiring in October 2019.

After his retirement, Singler's mental health became a concern. In November 2024, he posted on his official Instagram account that someone in his community was deliberately causing his career to "completely fail."

Subsequently, with the help of community members, Singler was ordered to temporarily refrain from social media and undergo psychiatric treatment, thus withdrawing from the public eye.
