Marseille will negotiate with Brighton in the winter transfer window to try and permanently sign O'Reilly.

According to an exclusive report by Sky Sports reporter Lyle Thomas on Monday, Marseille plans to begin negotiations with Brighton in the winter transfer window for a permanent transfer of Matt O'Reilly.
Since joining Marseille on loan in September, Oreli has made 14 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and two assists. At Marseille, he can form a double pivot with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and can also play as a number 8 or number 10.
For Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, O'Reilly not only perfectly fits his requirements for a versatile player, but also possesses excellent skills and is extremely active. Although O'Reilly's loan contract does not include a buy-out clause, Marseille is still prepared to accelerate the signing process in January next year.
Thomas explicitly stated that Marseille's move was aimed at securing O'Reilly before other top European clubs entered the competition.
The 25-year-old O'Reilly came through the Fulham youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Championship on January 1, 2020. He then moved to Milton Keynes and Celtic, winning four Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cup titles, and two Scottish League Cup titles with Celtic.
In August 2024, O'Reilly transferred to Brighton for £25 million. Hampered by ankle and knee injuries, he made only 25 appearances for Brighton, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists.
