Matty Cash has been named Aston Villa's Goal of the Month for September for his stunning strike in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland. The right-back's two goals earned him the award, beating out John McGinn and Ollie Watkins. Voting was conducted exclusively through the club's official channels, with his goal receiving the highest number of votes.
The goal came midway through the second period at the Stadium of Light. Following a corner kick, Matty Cash collected the ball approximately 25 yards from goal. The Poland international took a light touch and fired a powerful shot past Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roves.
The player celebrated in front of the travelling Villa fans as he scored to give Aston Villa a 1-0 lead at Wearside, before Wilson Isidore's equaliser with 15 minutes remaining sealed the victory.
Matty Cash's goal beat John McGinn's strikes against Bologna and Fulham, as well as Ollie Watkins's superb lob at home to the Cottagers, to win the award, receiving over 7,000 votes, around 6,000 ahead of his nearest competitor.
