Russian national team midfielder Matvey Kislyak shared his thoughts on the friendly match against Mali after the game, highlighting the opponent's strengths and thanking the fans who supported the team.
After the match, Matvey Kislyak said, "We created many chances and should have won. But that's football. Although we didn't score against Mali, overall I think we played well."
When asked if he felt tired as one of the few players to play the full 90 minutes, Matvi Kislyak admitted: "To be honest, yes. Overall, today's game was rather uneventful, but the most challenging part was scoring goals. Malian players are tall, and I wouldn't say they are particularly outstanding in speed or physical strength, but they definitely have an advantage in aerial duels."
Speaking about the atmosphere at the match, Matvey Kislyak said, "I am very grateful for the support of the fans. They cheered us on from the beginning to the end of the match. I am grateful that fans come to watch our matches no matter which city we are in. Even in a friendly match, the support of the fans is still very important to us."
Matvey Kislyak also mentioned that the national team strived to control the game. He said, "We created many attacking opportunities and had shots that hit the post. But sometimes we just couldn't score. Perhaps there were a few chances that we handled too personally, which ultimately led to us losing possession."
