Brighton & Wanderers officially announced on Thursday that they have loaned Italian center-back Diego Coppola to Paris FC for half a season. According to Italian transfer journalist Francesco Guerrieri, the deal does not include a buy-out clause.
The 22-year-old Coppola came through Verona's youth academy and made his professional debut on December 15, 2021, in the second round of the Italian Cup. He then played for Verona for three and a half seasons, making 85 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
In July 2025, Coppola transferred to Brighton for €11 million. To date, he has only made 9 appearances for Brighton, accumulating 542 minutes of playing time.
Brighton manager Fabian Schürlzer explained the decision to loan out Coppola: "Since joining last summer, Diego has integrated well into the team and adapted to the demands of English football. We are very pleased with this."
“His attitude is excellent. He now has the opportunity to get regular playing time in France and will return to the team in the summer.”
"More playing time will help his growth and create the best conditions for him to qualify for the World Cup finals with the Italian national team."
Paris FC subsequently confirmed that Coppola will wear the number 42 jersey during his loan spell. They believe that Coppola's arrival will fill the void left by Samir Sergi's injury absence.
Following the signing, Paris FC sporting director Marco Nepe said, "We are delighted to welcome Italian international Diego Coppola. Despite fierce competition, he ultimately chose Paris FC. We are incredibly proud of his determination."
"Although Diego is young, he has already demonstrated rich experience, a mature playing style, and excellent personal qualities. His ability and team-first spirit will be a valuable asset to the team. We look forward to creating a glorious future together with him."
