Marseille officially announced on Thursday that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned as a free agent with immediate effect. According to multiple French media reports, the two sides will sign a contract until June 30, 2027.

Aubameyang, 36, primarily plays as a center forward. He made his professional debut for Dijon in Ligue 2 on August 1, 2008. He subsequently played for Lille, Monaco, Saint-Étienne, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea, winning a French League Cup, a German Cup, two German Super Cups, an FA Cup, an English Super Cup, and a La Liga title.

In July 2023, Aubameyang joined Marseille as a free agent. He played for Marseille for only one season, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 51 games across all competitions.

After leaving Marseille, Aubameyang chose to join Saudi Arabian newly promoted Al Qadisiya. So far, he has played 36 times for Al Qadisiya, contributing 21 goals and 3 assists.

However, Qadisiya immediately decided to find another center forward. They had already spent at least €60 million to sign Italian international Matteo Retegui from Atalanta and terminated the remaining year of Aubameyang's contract. Aubameyang chose to return to Marseille with the goal of playing in the Champions League next season.
