Brest released a video on social media on Friday, announcing that it had renewed its contract with 57-year-old coach Eric Roy. The contract between the two parties was originally scheduled to end in June next year, and has now been extended to June 30, 2027.

Eric Roy played for Nice, Toulon Sports Club, Lyon, Marseille, Sunderland, Troyes, Rayo Vallecano and other teams during his playing career. He switched to management after retiring in 2004. He initially worked as a communications officer at Nice, and then served as sports director, first-team coach and general manager.

After leaving Nice, Roy served as sports manager and sports director at Lens and Watford. He took over Brest, which was in the relegation zone at the time, in January 2023, and led the team to qualify for the Champions League in the first full season with a top three finish in Ligue 1.

Due to multiple battles this season, Brest failed to continue last year's ideal performance. They are currently ranked eighth in the French Ligue 1 standings, with a total record of 22 wins, 6 draws and 19 losses. However, Brest management still has faith in Roy's coaching ability, so they started contract renewal negotiations with him since December last year.
