The Utah Jazz officially announced Wednesday that they have signed Anderson Garcia to a ten-day contract. The terms of the contract were not disclosed in accordance with team policy.
The 25-year-old Garcia, standing at 2.01 meters tall and weighing 100 kilograms, is a powerful forward from the Dominican Republic. During his college years, he played for the Mississippi Bulldogs and the Texas A&M men's basketball team in NCAA Division I. In 2025, he joined the Mexico City Captains as an undrafted player.
In 35 games played in the G League this season, Garcia averaged 10.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 25.3 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 55.6%. He also made his NBA regular season debut on the night he joined the Jazz, wearing the number 0 jersey.
Although the Jazz ultimately lost to the New York Knicks 117-134, Garcia delivered a respectable performance: he played 25 minutes, shooting 2-for-5 from the field and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line, contributing 6 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.
After the match, Garcia couldn't hide his excitement in an interview: "I'm very grateful, but also very surprised. I never expected to be standing here at this moment."
He continued, "This means a lot to me. As a player from the Dominican Republic, stepping onto the NBA court has thrilled my family. It has always been my childhood dream, and now, wearing an NBA jersey and standing on the court, it means a lot to me. I am also very grateful to the coach for his recognition and praise."
According to his contract, Garcia is expected to earn $73,153 during his time with the Jazz. After his debut, he remains eligible to play up to four regular-season games for the Jazz.
