Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler said he hopes to help the team develop by improving Olivier Boscali's level, which is also an important reason for the French defender to join the club. This summer, Olivier Boscali signed a five-year contract with Brighton after helping the team win the Eredivisie title for two consecutive years.  

Although Olivier Boscali has shown his quality at his former club, the frank exchanges between him and Fabian Hürzeler on how to improve his game are refreshing.  

Olivier Boscali said: "I had a very pleasant conversation with Fabian Hürzeler, but what he said was not what I expected. It was funny because he talked more about my shortcomings than my strengths."  

"However, I really appreciated his straightforward attitude in telling me that he wanted me to keep improving, which left me with no doubts about joining the club. I have many big goals in mind, of course, this is true for every football player, but at the moment, I think the most important goal is to lead the club back to Europe."  

"I have had in-depth discussions with the coach and the club about this. I think Brighton deserves to be in this competitive position. I would be very proud if I can help the team return to Europe. This is my most important goal at the moment."  

The 27-year-old has shown great versatility in the Netherlands, being able to play as both a centre-back and a left-back, but his best position is in the heart of defence.  

He added: "Central back is my best position because it is the position I perform best in so far and I love this role very much. Standing there, you can have a comprehensive view of the court and your teammates, and you can also exert a certain degree of control on the court.  

“Sometimes your contribution doesn’t show up in the number of goals because you don’t have many offensive opportunities and don’t give your opponent much space. But in the end, you can still decide the outcome of the game with your solid defense and key saves.”  

"I would say that defenders have a different job to strikers and although we may not be as visible, that's what I like about them. For example, I admire Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos a lot. If you look closely you'll see that they are not the biggest, the tallest or even the strongest, but they perform very well.  

"I am not a traditional centre-back. I am not 1.95 metres tall or 90 kilograms, but I believe I have unique characteristics."
