PSV Eindhoven announced on its official website on Wednesday that the club has extended the contract of its Brazilian defender Mauro Júnior.

According to PSV's official statement, Júnior has signed on a new long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Júnior, who was interviewed by PSV Eindhoven's official website again, said: "For me, PSV is not just a club, but a part of me. You have witnessed my laughter, my tears, my falls, but more importantly, my standing up again."

"Together we fight for trophies, for glory, and for pride. From the moment of winning the championship to the difficult moments when I was forced to recover and could only touch the ball in my dreams. You always supported me and you put your arms around my shoulders. For this, I am deeply grateful."

About Mauro Júnior

The 25-year-old Júnior was born on May 6, 1999 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is 1.71 meters tall and primarily plays as a left back, but can also play as a right back or defensive midfielder.

Júnior joined the youth academy of Desportivo Brasil, a local non-league club in Sao Paulo, at a young age, completed his Desportivo Brasil first-team debut in a Campeonato Paulista Série A2 match in 2017.

In July of the same year, Júnior joined PSV Eindhoven for €60,000.

In July 2019, Júnior was loaned-out to Heracles Almelo.

After returning to the club at the end of his loan spell the following summer, Júnior officially became one of the key players in PSV's first-team.

Since becoming a member of the Lampen, Júnior has played 158 times for PSV across all competitions so far, scoring 8 goals and assisting 18 times, and has won the Eredivisie twice, the KNVB Cup twice and the Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch Super Cup) once with the club.
