With scores from LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Austin Reeves, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 124-104 in another game of the 2025/26 NBA regular season. Head coach JJ Redick stated that LeBron James puts in a lot of effort to maintain his excellent form and insisted that he has never taken the star's performance for granted.
LeBron James scored 28 points and 12 assists for the Los Angeles Lakers, Rui Hachimura added 21 points and one assist, and Austin Reeves contributed 18 points and 6 assists.
Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick said, "We're going to challenge the players to do better on defense, including what we've talked about, as well as their mentality on ball-handling, corner defense, and overall defensive principles. We didn't do well enough in the first half, and I think we strayed a bit from our original plan."
"We used a zone defense for most of the first half when Klay Thompson was on the court, and we did a good job at the start of the third quarter. In the second half, we only allowed them 41 points, so I think our defense definitely improved."
After the victory, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently ranked 5th in the Western Conference standings. Redick said, "If people had told me in September that we would be in the top 5 in the West, and these players have only played 10 games together, I would have accepted that result. Of course, that doesn't mean the internal pressure I put on myself every day will disappear."
It's worth mentioning that LeBron James, at 41 years old, broke the NBA record for the oldest player to record a triple-double. Redick commented, "He fulfilled all our expectations of him and did everything a player in his 23rd season should realistically be expected of. He's spent a lot of time preparing and maintaining his body to stay in shape at this stage of his career."
"Our offense flowed very well in this game, and we shot decisively without hesitation. We started with a high pick-and-roll, and he went around the screen and hit a three-pointer without any hesitation. I never take his great performance for granted, and what's even more amazing is that in his 23rd year after achieving so much, he still cares so much about the game."
Redick also emphasized, "What's truly amazing is the attitude and level of commitment he displays every day. He basically had a peak period of 23 years, and although there are different versions of him, that's what makes him so outstanding."
