According to an exclusive report by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is expected to leave the company after his contract expires at the end of the 2025/26 season.
“Oliver Glassner has decided not to renew his contract with Crystal Palace,” he stated clearly on his personal blog. “This decision was not made hastily, but after a long period of discussion, negotiation, and careful consideration. It’s not just about money, but also about project planning, philosophy, and future direction.”
Glasner, 51, is considered a representative of Austria's young and promising coaches. He has coached Reid, Linz, Wolfsburg, and Frankfurt, achieving an impressive record of 190 wins, 87 draws, and 106 losses, and leading Frankfurt to their first Europa League title in 42 years.
In February 2024, Glasner succeeded Roy Hodgson as Crystal Palace manager. Despite facing multiple unfavorable factors such as the loss of key players and insufficient transfer budget, he still led Crystal to a record of 43 wins, 24 draws and 23 losses, and won one FA Cup and one Community Shield.
With the possibility of a successful manager's departure, the management has begun to activate contingency plans. They have listed Getafe manager José Bordalás as one of Glasna's potential successors, who is known in La Liga for his tactical style that places extreme emphasis on defense and discipline.
Meanwhile, Glasna's future has become a focus of attention across Europe. Reports indicate that Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United have all expressed strong interest in Glasna.
