Despite the dismal record this season and the worst season in the Premier League era, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim still firmly believes that the Red Devils' appeal remains strong and will not affect this summer's recruitment plans.
Manchester United are currently 14th in the Premier League, far from the European competition zone, but Amorim said that potential targets, including Mateus Cunha, have not been deterred. It is reported that Cunha has expressed a positive intention to join Old Trafford.
"This is Manchester United and I feel that there are many players who want to play for this club," Amorim said in an interview.
Although the Red Devils have been in turmoil this season - coach changes, management adjustments, poor results, and a chaotic internal atmosphere, Amorim believes that as long as the concept is clear, he can still attract players who are willing to fight for the club.
Amorim admitted: "It seems that there is something wrong with our club now. There is frequent staff turnover, coach changes, and unsatisfactory results. But we have a clear plan for the future, which is exactly the easiest point to explain to the players."
"And the most important thing is - this is Manchester United. Everyone wants to play for Manchester United."
Even if they fail to qualify for European competitions through the league this season, Manchester United still has hope of competing for a place in next season's Champions League through the Europa League. They are currently preparing for the semi-final against Spanish team Athletic Bilbao.
