According to a report by ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday, the Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors have all expressed interest in Anthony Davis. What they are willing to pay for Davis remains unknown.
Since joining the Dallas Mavericks in February, Davis has only played 19 games due to adductor and calf injuries, averaging 19.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He has also been constantly involved in trade rumors since Nico Harrison's departure, becoming a focus of media attention.
According to the latest statement from Shams, Davis's agent, Rich Paul, has met with Mavericks interim co-general managers Michael Finley and Matt Ricardi to discuss Davis's future: whether the team plans to re-sign Davis during the offseason or trade him before the trade deadline. Finley and Ricardi stated that they are not ruling out any possibilities and will observe the team's performance in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Shams Charania learned that the Mavericks are open to trading for Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, and D'Angelo Russell. The Mavericks, currently 9-16 and 11th in the Western Conference, hope to prepare for a rebuild by trading away from any potential opportunities.
ESPN reporter Tim Bontemps previously pointed out that most teams in the league are cautious about acquiring Davis, who is plagued by injuries, is of an awkward age, and has a high salary. Nevertheless, when healthy, Davis remains one of the most dominant players in the NBA. As the number one overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, he has played 794 regular season games for the New Orleans Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks, averaging 24.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game, with a 52.2% field goal percentage and a 29.5% three-point percentage.
Davis also played in 60 playoff games, averaging 26.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.3 steals per game, and won the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers.
