According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, Jeremy Sohan plans to join the New York Knicks after clearing waivers. The two sides are expected to sign him for the remainder of the season, with further arrangements still pending.

The 22-year-old Sohan is a 2.03-meter tall, 104-kilogram forward who was selected ninth overall in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. To date, he has played 212 regular season games for the Spurs, averaging 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 25.3 minutes per game, with a 46.8% field goal percentage and a 28.7% three-point percentage.

Due to limited improvement in his shooting ability, coupled with the rapid rise of Carter Bryant, whose role was similar to his, Sohan was gradually marginalized starting this season. After unsuccessful trade attempts, both parties ultimately reached an agreement to terminate his contract.

Despite this, several teams have expressed strong interest in Sorhan. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, Sorhan attracted interest from as many as ten teams after entering free agency, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Phoenix Suns. His main reason for choosing to join the Knicks is their championship aspirations.

The New York Post points out that Sohan is expected to make his Knicks debut in the first game after the All-Star break. His arrival is expected to alleviate the Knicks' lack of bench depth, and he will compete with the recently emerging Mohamed Diawara for playing time.
