The Miami Heat and Nikola Jovic have reached an agreement on a four-year, $62.4 million contract extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday. He also noted that the contract is fully guaranteed.
Nikola Jovic, 22, is a Serbian forward. He was the 27th overall pick in the 2022 draft and has played 107 regular-season games for the Miami Heat, averaging 8.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.0% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range.
Due to injuries, Nikola Jovic is currently playing mainly as a sixth man for the Heat. Despite this, the Heat still believe that he will play a more important role in the new season and have high hopes for his potential.
"I'm very excited for Nico," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said in an interview in Belgrade last week. "He's becoming more mature and more professional. That's what happens when you're working with players who are much older than you for a long time."
"I think being around a team that understands winning, has a real desire to win and has a strong team spirit has had a profound impact on him. We look forward to having him do great things with us in the future."
