The 16th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will take place, with Liverpool hosting Brighton at Anfield. At a press conference, manager Sloot stated that his team has put in a lot of effort and limited the opposition's chances in the past few matches, and he believes the players have shown great resilience.

Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw by Leeds United in their last Premier League match, thanks to goals from Ekitic and Szoboszlai. After a run of one win, two draws, and two losses in their last five games, Liverpool currently sit 10th in the table with 23 points. However, in their earlier Champions League victory, Liverpool defeated Italian giants Inter Milan 1-0 after a penalty goal from Szoboszlai, successfully boosting the players' confidence.

Liverpool manager Sloot said, "I think in the last four games, besides remaining unbeaten, we've shown that we're a very difficult team to beat. It's not easy for opponents to create chances against us, and the team has put in a lot of effort and energy. We were a bit unlucky again in terms of the result, but the team has shown great resilience."

"Playing four games in ten days, with not many players available, actually deserves recognition for those who did get to play. They not only managed to get some results, but their commitment in the games was also outstanding."

Sloth also said, "Whenever a player is available to play, it helps the team, especially a great player like Alisson, which will certainly have a positive impact. But I think Mamardashvili did a very good job while he was out."

“I don’t think Mamardashvili or Alisson need to do a lot in the games because in most of the games we’ve played, the opponents have hardly any chances. Not every game, but I think in about 90% of the games, we’ve given the opponents almost no chances at all. It’s definitely a good thing when a player of his caliber returns. But I still want to emphasize that Mamardashvili is also very good. However, it’s certainly great to see Alisson return.”

When asked about Liverpool's recent home form, Sloot said, "I think we've struggled far more than we expected, both at home and away, and I think I've talked about the reasons for that many times. But in any case, there aren't enough reasons for us to lose so many games. So I don't think the problem lies with the home games themselves; I'm more inclined to look at the reasons for our dropped points or losses from the other aspects I've mentioned recently."

Regarding how to deal with Brighton, Slott said, "If you look at the league, I think the league as a whole has become more direct. But the league is one thing, and Liverpool is another, especially the more direct style of play that teams have adopted against us. I think the word 'direct' sounds better than 'long pass'."

“I’ve said it many times: we have to learn to adapt. For example, in the game against Sunderland, we had a lot of trouble creating chances, and in another game they played, they scored from a long-range shot outside the box and from a set piece. These are ways to break down a deep defense that gives almost no space.”

Slott added, "There's another way, which is to rely on individual ability and completely dominate the opponent in one-on-one situations. I saw a good example of that when I watched the Manchester City vs. Real Madrid game. One or two players were able to create a lot of chances through their individual abilities, and there were also goals from set pieces in that game."
