Wolverhampton Wanderers' Portugal international forward Fábio Silva joins Borussia Dortmund..

Borussia Dortmund announced on its official website on Friday that the club has signed Portugal international forward Fábio Silva from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to Dortmund's official statement, Silva has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030. He will also wear the number 21 jersey, which was vacated after Donyell Malen had moved to Aston Villa.

In addition, according to The Athletic's resident renowned German transfer journalist Raphael Honigstein, the Bundesliga giants had paid a transfer fee of €27.5 million to Wolves to sign Silva.

After completing his joining procedures, Silva, who was interviewed by the Borussia Dortmund official website for the first time, said, "Signing for a club like Borussia Dortmund means a lot to me. This club holds such huge appeal not only in Germany but across Europe."

"I know Dortmund is a passionate club with incredible fans. Now, I'm incredibly proud and excited to be a part of this team. I hope to adapt quickly, give my all, and contribute to our team's success."

About Fábio Silva

The 23-year-old Silva was born on July 19, 2002, in Gondomar, Portugal. He is 1.85 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as a left or right winger.

Silva joined Porto's youth academy at the age of eight. He joined arch-rivals Benfica's youth academy in 2015, before returning to Porto's youth academy two years later. In August 2019, he completed his Porto first-team debut by coming on as a substitute. During this spell, he won the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the Taça de Portugal once each with the club.

In September 2020, Silva joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for £35 million.

However, after joining Wolves, Silva's form continued to struggle, leading to questions about his adaptability.

In July 2022, Silva was loaned-out to Anderlecht. The following January, he was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven, where he won the KNVB Cup.

After returning from his loan spell in the summer of 2023, Silva once again became a member of the Wolves first team, but his performances remained subdued.

The following January, Silva was loaned-out to Rangers, where he helped the team reach the Europa League round of 16s.

In August 2024, Silva was loaned-out to Las Palmas, where he scored the winning goal against Barcelona but was unable to help the club avoid relegation.

During his time at Wolves, Silva played 72 times for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists.
